Muskoka Log Home Care's Story
I've always been an artist, and I've always needed a way to express that side of myself through my work. About 15 years ago, I started working with a restoration company, where I learned the trade and built real hands-on experience. With help from my employer, I opened my own company and took the next step on my own. After that, I hired Mattea, and we learned together what it takes to run a business day by day. That meant handling the work, the calls, the planning, and the steady pressure of keeping clients happy, which is a lot for any small team. For anyone starting out, Canada's business start-up guide is a solid place to see what goes into registration, planning, and getting set up. These days, I keep reaching out to multiple companies, because growth comes from showing up, building trust, and keeping the work moving.
My Story
Raised by a teacher and a diesel mechanic, I learned early that hard work matters and that hands-on work fits me best. Time in the shop with my dad showed me that trades are honest work, and it taught me that if you keep showing up, you can do more than you think. I had a 4-year-old depending on me, so I had to push myself, set a strong example, and keep moving for him. That path led me to the trade I love, first through house painting and then into log home restoration, where I found real pride in chinking, staining, and bringing old and new homes back to life. I learned the trade with a focus on solid results, much like the work described by log home restoration specialists, and I've come to value the care it takes to do it right. I also love being outdoors, whether I'm snowmobiling, riding an ATV, or skiing, because that's where I feel most at home.

Muskoka Log Home Care placed third in Sashco’s North American chinking contest, a strong result in a competitive field. Sashco makes log home finishing products and supports chinking work through its log home product line. That award shows the company’s skill with log home care and restoration.

The Team
Day to day, it's mostly Mattea and Sara keeping things moving. When the job needs extra help, Carpenter - Red Seal Ryan steps in. My son Landen also helps when needed. That mix keeps the work steady and gives each person a clear role.
